Welcome to the Schlick and Daleiden Family Blog!

This blog’s purpose is to distribute and document information on the history of the Caspar Schlick and Daleiden Families of DuPage and Kane Counties of Illinois.

Caspar Schlick, a farmer,  immigrated from Eckersbach Germany to American in 1852. Crossing the Atlantic Ocean via the port of Breman and eventually settling in DuPage county Illinois. His son Joseph Schlick and daughter Maria (nee Schlick) Schneider both eventually settled in northwestern Kane county near the communities of Burlington and Hampshire in Illinois. My mother Louise Schlick was the daughter of Frank Schlick. Frank (Francis) (my Grandfather) and his father Casper Schlick (my great/great-grandfather) and Frank’s mother Susan (nee Daleiden) Schlick worked on a farm once located on Mack Road in DuPage County between Winfield Road and Illinois Route 59 along the West Branch of the DuPage River.

My Mission /Vision for This Blog:

My vision is for this blog to be a resource not only for immediate family members but also for other genealogist researching the Schlick  and Daleiden family line in Illinois. In 2009 my wife Juliann “caught the genealogy bug” and has joined me in this endeavor. Julie and a distant relative of mine, Elaine Crawford,  sponsored a “Schlick Family Reunion” that was held at the Warrenville (Illinois) Community Building in August of 2010. This Reunion was such a success with over 70 people linked to the Schlick Family line in attendance.   — Kevin Davis
