1904 DuPage Atlas Reveals Michael and Christopher Daleiden’s Farms on Mack Road

This 1904 map of Winfield Township in DuPage County Illinois shows that Michael Daleiden owned property. Michael owns forty acres of land. One of the two lots were a field with no structures on the property. Christopher Daleiden (Michael’s brother) appears to own fifty acres One of the lots is a field with no structures on the property. Christopher in 1904 also owns property in Winfield. Note on this map Mack Road’s dogleg in the road as it heads west over a bridge on the West Branch of the DuPage River. The 1904 map shows the area platted as Fredericksburg in Winfield Township in DuPage County Illinois. This is now know as the Village of Winfield. Christopher Daleiden owned a substanial amount of property in the Village at this time. His home in lot number 3 and 4 was near and to the north of the Church, Parish House and School of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church. Kevin Davis is a retired Public Library Director. He is a Board member of the Winfield (IL) Historical Society. Davis has over 35 years experience working in public libraries. He is deeply interested in local Chicagoland, Dupage, and Kane County History. Davis earned a BA in History and an MA in Library Science from Dominican University. He is a volunteer researcher for the St. James Farm Forest Preserve part of the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County in Illinois. His work includes extensive writing and research on the McCormick family line who were former owners of St. James Farm. He is an avid family historian / genealogist and has done extensive research on the Schlicks and Daleidens of DuPage and Kane County Illinois.
